My son and I made the date and lemon cake today and it was so good! I made it because I'd never think of putting dates and lemons together and I couldn't picture how it would taste. The answer is good and moreish; it's a "just one more sliver" sort of cake. Thank you!
My mother happily reads books via Libby on her iPhone. I tried once on mine, but I didn't like the experience. I much prefer the real thing.
It'll be different on an iPad or tablet - I remember reading an amazing gay sci-fi book on my parent's tablet years ago, over Christmas time, when you could d/l books and read them. This was very early days. But then tablets became kindles and I tried that but it didn't take with me. Oh well.
I don’t like reading books on my phone either, but I have a Kobo (like a Kindle, but you can use it to access library books) and that has been life-changing.
I love all of this (the part about how grief changes closely mirrors my own experience). Chiming in to say run, don’t walk, to the karpatka recipe on page 204 of sift. We’ve made it as written and with a pear and ginger filling; both were divine.
Yes! I made it a couple of weeks ago, such a fun project. Mine looked more like the Paeroa ranges than the Carpathians (but since I’ve never seen the Carparthians I figured that was ok ⛰️ !)

Sift must be good, all 8 copies are out at the local library. I've put it on my TBR list (which is very long).
Eight copies! I read a digital version via Libby, if that’s any help?

OMG what a slurpy recipe! Thanks, Lucy’s Mum! 🧡
