Just in time for the King's big day, all the things I've learned about making party cakes without losing it. Plus, Nurse Gathergood's sponge and chocolate-dipped feijoas.
Birthday cakes, never too old. My about to turn 19 year old will have a home made cake, my 16 year old twins get a cake each... in the early hard years it sometimes was 1 large cake split horizontally and decorated. My dear great uncle often visited on birthdays with a supermarket sponge he had decorated with jam & cream. Cake is love.
I remember the days of Frozen cakes well. Shards of blue tinted toffee and Elsa made from fondant! I actually love the annual cake making as a creative endeavour - the height of my artistic skills for the year!

A cake each for twins! I don’t think my husband (a twin) ever got a cake of his own (sob). Maybe I’ll suggest it to my MIL this year…

Your cakes were always masterpieces, I hope Jacqui realises how lucky she was/is!
